New ways to greet the New Year

View(s):

The Sinhala and Tamil new year was marked this week with many trying to keep to the auspicious times and the traditions, irrespective of the difficulties faced. However, some people were forced to be out on the roads due to the circumstances that prevailed. Among them were those in the queues trying to purchase fuel.

Long queues were seen near fuel stations, where some people were staying overnight to get fuel. Others, such as those who joined the protest campaign at Galle Face, marked the new year traditions away from their homes. There were still others who were stranded on the roads without buses or trains to get to their homes. Some spent the time watching a movie at the Cinema as seen in these pictures.
