British School in Colombo recorded two wins while Gateway College Colombo and Lyceum International Nugegoda each recorded a win at the Inter-International School Under-19 T20 Tournament, which began last week at the Lyceum International School ground in Wattala.

British School handsomely beat Asian International School by 92 runs and continued their form by beating Gateway College Kandy by 77 runs in their next game. Gateway Colombo defeated Colombo International School by 72 runs while in a home-vs-home game Lyceum Nugegoda thrashed Lyceum Ratnapura by a massive 169 runs.

In the curtain raiser game of the competition played at Wattala, British School posted 234 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs, giving their opponents a tough run-chase. Kavya Shukla smashed 96 runs off 51 balls for the winners. Asian International School were bowled out for 142 runs with a delivery to spare as Sehatha Srikanth captured four scalps to spearhead the bowling attack. He was well supported by Sashreek Vijayakumar and Kenneth de Silva, who grabbed two wickets each.

British School recorded their second win with a 77-run victory against Gateway Kandy in the match played at the Prison ground in Mahara. Electing to bat first, British School scored 131 runs for the loss of seven wickets and skittled out Gateway Kandy for 54 runs. Gateway Colombo overcame Colombo International School by 72 runs in their match played at Wattala, as the winners posted a massive total of 242 runs, electing to bat first. Their total was bolstered by the fireworks of Kavindu Warnakulasooriya, who scored a quick-fire century and Janindu Nandasena, who was equally brilliant. Kavindu faced 53 balls to score 106 runs while Janindu remained unbeaten on 90 off 46 balls, as Gateway Colombo lost only two wickets on their way to reach the mammoth total.

In their run-chase, Colombo International School too batted brilliantly, but were well short of their target as they were restricted to 170 runs for the loss of five wickets. Janindu returned to capture two wickets.

Lyceum Nugegoda thrashed their fellow team from Ratnapura by a massive 169 runs, in their game played at Wattala. The Nugegoda side, electing to bat, posted 222 runs for the loss of seven wickets and restricted out their Ratnapura counterparts for 57 for the loss of five wickets. Abilash Pathirathna top scored for the winners with a 36-ball 52.
