A play about a man without a cultural life
Award winning stage producer Asanka Sayakkara’s “ Uro Athara pork “ will be staged 3.30 pm and 6.45 pm February 13 at the Namel Malini Punchi Theatre in Borella.
The play enfolds the story of the catastrophe of man losing his cultural life and it is an analysis of this condition.
“ Uro Athara pork “is the fourth lengthy play produced by Asanka Sayakkara who has dramas like “Sangadasage Choo Kalisama, “Man Kelin Minihek” and “Kiribaddo” to his credit. The main stage performance is by Nilmini Sigera and Samitha Sudheedshwara while behind the screen Poornima Wijesuriya handles music, Lanka Bandaranayake costume
Premjayantha Kapuge make up. Stage management is by Namal Gamage.

Sophocles’ Oedipus at Wendt
The Sinhala version of Athenian tragedy by Sophocles ‘Oedipus’, an translated by
Ariyawansha Ranaweera and directed by award winning young dramast Akila Sapumalge will go on the boards at 3.30 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. on February 12 at Lionel Wendt Theatre Colombo 07.
Oedipus is prescribed text for number of syllabi at different levels. It is included in the G.C.E. A/L and University courses.
Performed by leading professional artistes the music composition is by Heshan Kuruppu.
All seat are box planned and tickets are now available at Lionel Wendt Theatre.
‘Sinhala Jawanika’ a new play goes on the board
Young award winning playwright Akila Sapumal’s newest play “Sinhala Jawanika” will be premiered on February 10 at the Elphinstone Theatre Colombo 10.
The play is made based on a collection of many works of literature that are included in O/L and A/L literature syllabi such as, ‘ParaviSandeshaya’, ‘SalalihiniSandeshaya’, ‘GuththilaKaavya’, ‘UggasenaKathawasthuwa’, ‘Amawathura’ and etc.
Featuring a number of talented artistes, musical score is written by AjanthaRajakaruna.
Tickets are available at Sarasavi Book Shop – Nugegodaand at the theatre gate. The play is organized by Jude Srimal.
