The school system produces many talented and skilled sportspersons. Unfortunately, not all trained players are fortunate to make it to the club circuit. Many of these players spend a lot of time concentrating on sports, and thereby neglect their studies and personal development.

As a result, they find themselves stranded, with no proper opportunity to progress neither as professional sportsmen nor as corporate professionals.

“We at Colombo Synergy Rugby Academy, have developed an initiative called Colombo Synergy Student Development Programme (CSSDP) specifically to address these students who fall in between the cracks, so that we could be of a helping hand to these players and give them a chance to resurrect their sports and corporate careers. CSSDP aims to develop these individuals in a holistic and all-round manner,” said, the Chairman of CSSDP, Nazeem Ghaffoor.

CSSD Programme is created for the students between Grades 9 and 13 with the objective of developing a strong foundation at a very young age.

“We have built series of programmes focusing on young players, who are in need of help to identify, refine their skills and abilities. What is special about this programme is that both intellectuals and star players have given their best in structuring this programme, thereby have produced one-of-a-kind programmes which actually takes a holistic approach in developing a student,” said Chief Educator of the programme, Farhaz Farouk.

The CSSD Programme entails mentoring on personality development skill, coaching on study skills and importance of stress management, training sessions to face the corporate life, helping and guiding to choose their career and dream profession, relevant sports and sports management training and an introduction to a Mini MBA.

Colombo Synergy Rugby Academy (CSRA) was inaugurated in March 2013 with the objective of developing skills of rugby players in the country. The academy is formed by Nazeem Ghaffoor as Chairman, who is a former Zahira College coach and referee, along with Irfan Lye as Deputy Chairman, who backed the academy from the inception.

The CSRA team is formed by Nazeem Ghaffoor as Director and Chairman, Farhaz Farouk as Chief Educator, Irfan Lye as Course Director, Malik Miskin as Course Coordinator and Irshad Lye as Administration and Logistics.
