Half tons by Sahan Arachchige and Ahan Wickremasinghe and a five-wicket haul by Ashian Daniel paved the way for defending champions NCC to record a massive 168-run win over Navy SC in the Major Club Limited Over Cricket Tournament encounter played at the NCC ground yesterday.

Sahan cracked a quick-fire 62 in just 44 balls. The knock included five boundaries and three sixes. Ahan’s 60 came in 56 balls inclusive of two boundaries and two sixes. The pair associated in a valauable 73-run stand for the fifth wicket to help NCC make a formidable score of 256 for 8.

Later right-arm spinner Ashian Daniel’s impressive match figures of 5 for 20 enabled NCC to bundle out Navy SC for a paltry 88 runs, as they chalked up their third win of the tournament.

Chilaw Marians, Sebastianites and Police SC too recorded their third wins of the tournament with convincing wins against Ace Capital, Galle CC and Panadura SC in the matches played at Katunayake, Dombagoda and Police Park. Colts CC defeated Badureliya SC at Maggona to record their second win.

Meanwhile five other matches that were scheduled to be played yesterday, were abandoned without a ball being bowled due to wet outfield.
