Covid cases rising; 135 deaths, over 4,385 afflicted this week

While the number of positive cases is rising again, 155 COVID-19 related deaths were recorded this week.
Some 725 COVID-19 positive cases were reported on Saturday raising the number of afflicted people to more than 4,385 during the week.
On Friday, 22 more covid deaths were recorded raising Sri Lanka’s total covid death toll to 14,108.

The increase in number of COVID cases has resulted in health authorities expressing concern over public gatherings and leisure trips.
Meanwhile, administering the third dose or booster of the covid vaccine for those above 60 years began this week. The Health Ministry’s Epidemiology Unit said by yesterday 203,733 people have received their Pfizer booster shot. Those above 20 years and suffer from various health conditions will also be eligible for the booster dose.
