ANC Students win First Runners- up at the Islandwide University Level IT Competition Organised by AIESEC in University of Sri Jayewardenepura
View(s):ANC students were the first-Runners-up at the DECIPHER Competition Finals held on 27th June 2021 securing the 2nd place win at the islandwide University level IT Competition organised by AIESEC in Sri Lanka in collaboration with Microsoft Sri Lanka.
It was an incredible achievement considering our students are in the first year of the SQA Advanced Diploma programme majoring in Information Technology at ANC Branch Campus Kandy.
The ANC team members were Nalin Bandara Abeyrathna, Amna Carder, Aabidh Wadood, Zaid Jauffer and Abdhel Mashood who participated for the first time in this island wide IT Competition known as DECIPHER by AIESEC held at University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
The 5 team members of ANC competed with other teams from State & Private Universities that included University of Peradeniya, University of Moratuwa, University of Kelaniya, ESOFT Metro Campus, NSBM Green University, SLIIT & others. The ANC team qualified for the Finals amongst other strong teams such as University of Ruhunu, University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT).
“It was my first time participating in such as great competition and as a beginner I learned a lot about the IT industry, its scope and it was a great experience. All the group members did a super job and I couldn’t have done it without them.” says ANC Team Leader Aabidh Wadood.

ANC Education is very proud the SQA Advanced Diploma students that faced a tough competition from State and Private university teams Island wide in the field of Information Technology. “It is commendable to witness our young students at Diploma level tackle the University level IT Competition where many of the other participants were in their 3rd year of Unive rsity level” says Kasun Dissanayake – Head of Academic Programmes for ANC Branch Campus Kandy.
This is certainly a testament to the high standards set by SQA Advanced Diploma programmes delivered at ANC Branch Campus Kandy and the expertise of our faculty and academic team that offers an exceptional learning experience for students. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the faculty members Mr. Kasun Dissanayake, Academic Head, Ms. Dinesha Ekanayake, Faculty Member and Ms. Ramona David, Consultant Academic Administration for their time and effort in preparing the students by conducting workshops and mentoring them to get ready for the Final competition.
“I truly believe that many people get caught up in the product and forget the worth of what lies in the process. Win or lose, it’s the fact that you tried, gave it your all and did your best, not to be the best. That alone is rewarding. I am overwhelmed and delighted by the achievement of our students, and I have witnessed that it is the culmination of hard work and discipline. You all made your Alma mater proud and that is the strength of ANC” says Kasun Dissanayake.
The annual competition ‘Decipher’ organised by AIESEC is a Case Study Competition carried out all over Sri Lanka, especially for IT undergraduates, to expose real-world case studies and solution-oriented problem-solving. It’s an invaluable learning experience and exposure for ANC students where the competition consisted of IT Case Studies and presentations that are applicable in the real IT industry.
