Vidyartha College received the facility of 10 side wickets to make use of the school’s senior and junior cricket teams for their training purposes. The addition to the Vidyartha College ground come as a result of continuous pleas and requests made by the Vidyartha College Old Boys’ Association, headed by Ranjith Weerasinghe, to Sri Lanka Cricket and other sports authorities.

Accordingly, the Vidyartha ground, which was earlier known as an unsafe and unusable facility, will now be renovated with an addition of 10 practice wickets courtesy of Sri Lanka Cricket, after its president Shammi Silva, was directed by the Minister of Sports, Namal Rajapaksa, to look into the matter as a CSR or development project.

The development of these practice wickets will take place in different stages with the support of SLC and the Ministry of Sports, who will oversee the project and its additions. The inauguration ceremony took place on Thursday at the Vidyartha ground under the patronage of Shammi Silva, Ranjith Weerasinghe and other dignitaries of the school and area.

In addition Kingswood College will also receive five practice wickets while SLC has plans to develop more such facilities at other schools in the Central Province.
