Religious events to mark President’s birthday today

Religious events will be held to mark the 72nd birthday of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa which falls today (20).

He visited the Gangaramaya Temple last evening to take part in religious observances ahead of his birthday. He is also due to visit the Ruwanweliseya in Anuradhapura.

A spokesman for the President’s Office said President Rajapaksa will not take part in any major events to mark his birthday.

However, various local politicians affiliated to the Government have organised their own events in some parts of the country.
