The final of the Nuwara Eliya District Snooker Tournament which is one of the four district qualifying tournaments played at the Thawalama Snooker and Pool Parlour(Thawalama SPP) billiards table saw S.M. Izadeen of Thawalama SPP coming out victorious against his club mate Mohamed Umar by five frames four in the nine frames encounter.

Earlier in the day Izadeen and Umar came out on top in the semi-final encounters defeating S.S. Rajendrajith of Grand Hotel Nuwara Eliya and Tharindu Samith of Thawalama SPP.

In the third place playoff which preceded the final, Tharindu Samith overcame S.S. Rajendrajith by two frames to one.

184 cueists from four districts namely Colombo (89), Nuwara Eliya (39), Kandy (31) and Galle (25) are contesting in two qualifying tournaments (District and All-Island Lanka Plate) to fight out for the 16 slots to join the 16 national ranked players to contest in the forthcoming 68th National Snooker Championship.

The tournaments is conducted by the Sri Lanka Billiards and Snooker Association and sponsored by Sumathi Group of Companies with the national snooker championship being fought out for the U.W. Sumathipala Memorial Trophy.

Third Place Playoff:
Tharindu Samith (Thawalama SPP) beat S.S. Rajendrajith (Grand Hotel N’Eliya) 2-1 (60/35, 39/46, 65/55)
Final:
S.M. Izadeen (Thawalama SPP) beat Mohamed Umar (Thawalama SPP) 5-4 (27/67, 61/60, 15/44, 51/41, 11/58, 55/30, 70/50, 5/50, 53/41)
