Seylan Bank PLC has appointed Ramesh Jayasekara as its Chief Operating Officer with effect from January 2021, the bank announced.

A banker with international exposure, Mr. Jayasekara served as the Deputy Regional Financial Controller of the French Banking giant BNP Paribas, in the Middle East Region based in Bahrain prior to joining Seylan Bank. He joined the bank as the Chief Financial Officer in 2011, and subsequently held many senior positions in the bank including Chief Risk Officer in 2016, Deputy General Manager, Corporate Banking in 2018 and was appointed Senior Deputy General Manager in 2019.

In his new role as the Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Jayasekara will be responsible for the entire Branch Network, Branch Credit including Credit Hubs, Credit Monitoring, Retail Banking, Recoveries, Legal, Liability Product Management, Seylan Card Centre, Margin Trading and Islamic Banking functions of the bank.
