There was a mixed bag of reactions from the public regarding the Budget proposals. Here are some of the views expressed:

M.F Fouzul (48):
Tailor in Wellawatte

This budget is almost 100 percent good if it is actually implemented. However, the Government has not paid attention to people like us who run small businesses.

P Mariam Pillai (85):
Retired Director Finance,
Irrigation Department

The Budget is more focused on rural development. In most Budgets there are good proposals but the implementation process is slow. Those who implement the proposals eventually give priority to their interests.

The public cannot expect anything immediately from this. It all depends on how well the proposals are put into practice.

P.V Sunil (57):

A driver

“There is no relief for the poor man. Its like “kabalen lipata watuna wage” (Falling from the frying pan to fire). We hope we will get some relief in the future.

Sunimal Piyarathne (53)

No promises have been given to the poor people. The Government has not thought of the ordinary people.
