‘I Wonder’: Sci-fi Music visual for Dance-pop by ‘Spike’

With more than two decades of experience in music making, award winning songs and public performance, Manoj Jayawardana, popularly known as ‘Spike’- recently released his latest original Dance-pop ‘I Wonder’ with an eye-catching Sci-fi Music
visual.

‘Spike’ is an award-winning Urban artiste based in Colombo and has released a string of music multiple genres such as Dance-pop, Pop, Rap, Hip-Hop and R&B under his independent record label SPIKE Universe | Records (spikeuniverserecords.com).

A professional music producer, for both Sinhalese and English audiences, Spike have released four music videos in English with debut audio in 2011 and video in 2013 for his song ‘Cross Roads’. Since then Spike has come along an innovative and colourful musical journey. Having decided to have a fulltime profession as a musician, ‘Spike started his band’ Sanskruthi’ and created the first ever underwater music video in Sri Lanka.  Followed by the first UV (Ultra Violet) cinematised music video in Sri Lanka.

Awarded the Best Rap Performance Award, at Derana Music Video Awards 2013, for his debut release ‘Crossroads,’ Spike was nominated in two other categories. Spike’s previous release, ‘Groove Mama,’ is a banger with an energising music video that grabbed a lot of attention.

‘In today’s music business, visually appealing aspects and concepts are the focus of current music videos. Audience preferences being broad and diverse, artists’ truly grind on the fact and create mind-blowing visuals for their music releases’ said Spike.

boost. Spike starring as a space traveller, along with glamorous Dulasha Jayawardhana and Chennai based music producer Hary Nair, creates an unforgettable blockbuster sci-fi movie experience.

Inspired by his fascination with space travel and the Universe, ‘I Wonder’ music visual is a conceptualised by ‘Spike’ himself. Scripted into a captivating storyline with amazing cinematic computergraphics (CG), designed by Nick Leoz and Mihiran Wimalasooriya, two talented video directors/CG artistes based in Sri Lanka, backed with futuristic outfits designed by Thushara Kalubowila at Toolhead design studio.

‘I Wonder’ is a Dance-pop record, written by Spike, and produced by Hary Nair, a music producer based in Chennai, India, who has produced music for major Bollywood and Kollywood films.

Premiered worldwide on BBC Asian Network, ‘I Wonder’ tops homegrown music plays on YES FM and Island Pulse Radio charts. The song was also featured in the Tamil movie Lakshmi (2018), starring Prabhu Deva, Ditya Bhande, and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead roles.

‘I want to keep releasing original music both Sinhalese and English. My main aim is to be an international artiste and take Sri Lanka to the international music arena’ Spike stated.
