The Black Lions clinched Thora Tennis Challenge Cup ’20 for the fourth successive year  when they beat Blue Sharks 7-2 in the finals of the annual Matale Thora Tennis League Tournament ’20 which was played at Matale District Tennis Club courts.

Two teams — Black Lions and Blue Sharks — with ten players in each team, competed in this tournament conducted by Thora Tennis Academy Matale.

The final encounter had six singles and three doubles. Yasassri Liyanage (Blue Sharks), who won two singles against Madura Hewamulla 9-8 (6) and Ganidu Samarakoon 9-1 was named the best player in the Senior League tournament.

Madura (Black Lions) lost to Yasassri (Blue Sharks) 8-9 (6)

Nirmal (BL) beat Chamud (BS) 9-7

Ganidu (BL) beat Yewanthaka (BS) 9-4

Udith (BL) beat Isira (BS) 9-2

Nirmal (BL) beat Shanoori (BS) 9-3

Ganidu (BL) lost to Yasassri (BS) 1-9

Doubles

Madura and Udith (BL) beat Chamud and Shehan (BS) 6-3

Nirmal and Nayon (BL) beat Shanoori and Rahil (BS) 6-4

Devinda and Dulan (BL) beat Aadil and Yewanthaka (BS) 6-4

Yasassri was named the best player
