Visakesha Chandrasekaram’s internationally acclaimed film ‘Paangshu’ (The Soil) is now being released at PVR cinemas. The film will be screened at 2 pm and 7 pm.

Woven around Babanona (Nita Fernando), a launderer belonged to one of the lowest castes in Sri Lanka who is on a mission to find the abductors of her only ‘Paangshu’ won the Best Actress award (for Nita) in the Foreign films category of the Nice International Film Festival in France. In addition to Nita, costume designer of the film, Kumara Karawdeniya won the Best Costume Designer award at the festival. The director and screenplay writer Vishakesa was also nominated for the Best Screenplay award. Among other film festivals Saviour Kanishka won the Best Supporting Actor at the 2019 Golden Door International Film Festival

Visakesa won the Royal Reel Award at 2019 Canada International Film Festival and Special Jury Mention, 2019 Religion Today Film Festival, Italy.

In addition the maiden film direction by acting duo Sarath Kothalawala and Kumara Thirimadura, ‘The Newspaper’ too is now being released at PVR cinemas. It is shown at 11.30 am, 4.15 pm and at 9.10 pm.
