Serasinghe ton puts Moors in command

Sachithra Serasinghe’s sparkling century put Moors in command in the SLC Premier League Plate Championship decider against Lankan CC on day one at the NCC grounds yesterday.
The 33-year-old, playing his 136th First Class match, oozed with elegance for his 151, which guided Moors from a struggling 6/2 to 274/4, a position from which they are primed to claim the title. By close of play, Moors had already piled up enough runs to be able to take advantage with 406/4 on the board.
SSC piled up 462/4 as skipper Dasun Shanaka hit an unbeaten 108 and opener Sandun Weerakkody smashed a 72-ball 101 against Badureliya SC at the De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa.
Two half centuries from Dilshan Munaweera (57 off 82 balls) and Ashen Silva (55) during a 99-run unbroken partnership for the second wicket between the duo helped Negombo CC stand tall against Tamil Union at Colts grounds. Negombo are in second place with 46.29 points as Moors dominate the board with 48.89 points.
