Nuwara Eliya Golf Course (NEGC) conducted its annual Captain’s Cup and President’s Prize which commenced yesterday at the beautiful looking NEGC Club course with a record 104 golfers teeing off for honours. The conditions were ideal in the sun-bathing Nuwara Eliya city during the last three days which allowed some good golf to be displayed.

Sixteen-year-old Trinitian, Haroon Aslam will defend his President’s prize while top form golfer, Chamara Abeyrathne will defend his Captain Cup. The action packed weekend including the Club AGM (Annual General Meeting) took place yesterday at the prestige’s club in the Hills. Former Test cricketer, Mahela Jayawardene and former Sri Lanka rugby skipper, Pavithra Fernando were among the participants at this year’s event.

The organising committee headed by, President, Maj Srinath Rajapakse conducted these tournaments under strict health and safety guidelines. Final day’s event will take place today followed by the prize distribution.
