The University of Jaffna Council met this week to evaluate the applications for the Vice Chancellor post, and it has forwarded three nominees from the six applications received, a University official said.

The names of the three existing senior academic staff of the university have been recommended to the President through the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Accordingly, Prof. S. Srisatk-unarajah attached to the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce  Dean T. Velnampy and Prof. K. Mikunthan from the Faculty of Graduate studies were the top three nominees for the post.

On May 15, applications were called for the vacant Vice Chancellor post. Among the seven applications the Council received, one was rejected on the basis that it was not duly filled.

The evaluation committee, which consists of the University’s Senate and Council representatives and UGC representatives, met this week to finalise the nominees.
