View(s):

With the Kandakadu Drug Rehabilitation Centre becoming the latest cluster of the COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka, amid fears of a second wave, Colombo Municipal Council health officials yesterday conducted PCR tests on residents in Mattakkuliya’s Crow Island area following reports that some people from here had visited the Kandakadu centre to see inmates. The Puttalam District Mundalama hospital’s outpatient department was closed yesterday after the death of a patient who had been transferred to the Chilaw hospital amid fears that the death was due to COVID-19. So people who brought meals for Mundalama in-house patients were told to leave the food on a table outside the side gate of the hospital. Later in the evening, tests revealed that the patient died of other complications and not COVID-19. Pic by Hiran Priyankara
