Ceylon Theatres opens new cineplex in Dematagoda
Amidst many a bad news including extensive closure of cinemas due to COVID-19 epidemic and unavailability of new films for release, there is a happy news for all cinema lovers in Colombo.
The latest addition to the number of cinemas, Regal Cineplex a brand new Cinema complex will be opened in Dematagoda by Ceylon Theatres Pvt Ltd (CTPL) soon.
The pioneer cinema company in the country with over 90 years in the industry, CTPL will open its newest state-of-the art cinema complex with three Cinemas with the seating capacities of 253 and other two 99 seats. The 3D Screen 1 will have 253 seats while Screen 2 and 3 will have 99 seats. The air-condictioned theatres will also have comfortable seatings facilities and the latest sound technology with perfect ambiance.
“Plans are underway to screen latest English, Tamil, Hindi and Sinhala movies in the Screen theatres while popular filmmakers have scheduled to premier their latest Sinhala releases,” a spokesman from the CTPL said.
The complex will also have a Cargills Food city, KFC and other food courts and commercial shops.
In the heart of Dematagoda town along the Baseline road, Regal Cineplex is situated opposite where cinema Manel Dematagoda was.
CTPL which introduced the concept of cinema complexes to Sri Lankan runs Majestic Cineplex Colombo with four theatres, Empire Arcade with two cinemas and Majestic Cineplex Jaffna with three cinemas. It also runs the chain of cinemas Regal Colombo, Regal Gampaha with two cinemas, Regal Nuwaraeliya with two cinemas and Regal Kandy.
