Those waiting to apply for university admission will have to wait for two weeks after schools in the country reopen, the University Grants Commission (UGC) said this week.

The UGC had decided to extend the deadline for the calling of university admission applications for the academic year 2019/2020 based on the results of the 2019 G.C.E. (A/L) Examination for two weeks after schools reopen.

This decision had been made considering the country’s prevailing situation with more than 150 COVID-19 cases reported. However, because the curfews will be continuing in April and the global and local COVID-19 situation is still at a concerning level, the Ministry is undecided about schools being re-opened on April 20 as planned earlier, Education Ministry Secretary H.N.M. Chitrananda told the Sunday Times.
