Motorsports events postponed indefinitly

The Sri Lanka Motorcycle Federation (SLMF) has instructed its members, not to hold or take part in any motor sports events due the prevailing situation in the country.

This decision follows a circular issued by the Ministry of Sports.

Last week, the Sri Lanka Automobile Sports (SLAS), the local governing body for motorsports in Sri Lanka decided to indefinitely postpone two of the country’s oldest hill climb events – Mahagastota Hill Climb and Radella Hill Climb.

Fox Hill Supercross is scheduled for April 18 and 19, organised by SLAS in collaboration with the Military Academy of Diyatalawa, and the Nuwara Eliya Road Race slotted for May 2 and 3, organised by the Sri Lanka Motorcycle Club.

Among the upcoming major gravel events in the 2020 motorsports calendar are Commando Supercross, Walawe Supercross, Gajaba Supercross, Gunners Supercross, Cavalry Supercross, Colombo Supercross, Nuwara Eliya Motorcross, Wijayaba Motorcross and Sappers Motorcross.

The tarmac events scheduled are Rotherham Katukurunda, Mobil1 Katukurunda, Canway Autodrome Mirigama and Eliyakanda, hill climbs.
