Benedictines took to the streets in a fun Motor Parade to mark the 155th anniversary of St. Benedict’s College and the 115th Anniversary of the Old Boys Union. The Motor Parade took off from Galle Face with over 250 vehicles, celebrations ending with a carnival at the school grounds.

Specially decorated vehicles showcased College activities – and portrayed the Benedictine legends who did yeoman service to the country. The carnival had a feast of entertainment and special performances by bands ‘Band Expressions’ led by Manjula Martis and ‘Voice Print’ led by Dilan Irugalbandara, Trevine Joseph, Ishini Fonseka and Rock Nisha

“I’m delighted with the crowd turnout for the motor parade and carnival. It exceeded our expectations and I’m sure it was a lot of fun for our community,” said Priyal Perera, General Secretary of the OBU.

“It is intended to make memories. We want people to look back and say, ‘remember when they did all those events for the 115th anniversary, I was there,” Rev. Bro Director Ernest Tarciasius said.
