Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, the legend in Lanka’s century old radio broadcasting, is inviting young people, who can to carry the baton forward.

The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), formerly Radio Ceylon, is the oldest radio station in South Asia, and was founded as Colombo Radio in 1925. Edward Harper who was then the Chief Engineer at the Telegraph Department in 1921, was  the first person who initiated experimental broadcasts in Ceylon.

SLBC is calling all young talented male and female announcers, who can manage precise radio language to be trained as ‘radio broadcasters’ to achieve the national expectations as the precursor of the world’s second radio broadcaster and the, premier in the South Asia.

Application and audition will be called from the age group of 18-30 who intends to be announcers through application procedure and microphonic voices will be selected. A panel of veteran announcers will be in the selection process. The main channels in all three languages at the Head office in Colombo and the entire regional channels will be in this operation.

‘The radio broadcasting arena  is immensely in need of brilliant set of youths at this moment of prosper and new expectations borne in entire nations to work towards a national renaissance’ said the head of the panel of veteran announcers.

The  SLBC’s prime objective is to actively get involved the talents of young generation all over the country into a single stream of great mission of building this country. Thus, this great opportunity opens up for younger generation of the country who anticipate moving in to radio communication.

Calling applications, voice audition, selection of male and female announcers, preparing a waiting list of announcers to submit to any channel of the Corporation in need, setting up a ‘voice bank’ to submit  any reputed  institution are included in this  process .

A comprehensive training will be provided to all Announcers. A national recognized certificate will be awarded  upon their skills and success.
