Commemorating its sesquicentennial anniversary, Good Shepherd Convent, Kotahena recently conducted a ceremony named ‘Panhinde Sithuwili’ to launch over 75 children’s storybooks authored by the students of both primary and the upper school.  This initiative by the Principal Rev. Sr. Mary Renuka Silva, gave an opportunity for those students who would like to pursue their talents in writing and drawing.

For this occasion, twin sisters Vinumi Senethma and Vinuki Hasithma, of Grade 10 created a storybook called ‘Aththamata Horen’ that depicts the importance of a loving and closely knit relationship between children and their elders.

The twins got the opportunity to present their book to veteran author and illustrator Kala Keerthi Sybil Wettasinghe, which they considered a great privilege.
They are ever grateful to her for all the advice and guidance given to them and they are grateful to their principal, teachers, parents and everyone else who has supported them on their journey.

‘Aththammata Horen’ is available at most libraries and leading bookshops in Colombo and suburbs.
