“TALKING TITANS” is a public speaking and social etiquette training institute headed by Amalka Perera, a well experienced public speaking and leadership coach.

It is a niche organisation aiming to groom young adults in public speaking and leadership in order to help them groom and develop in becoming potential boardroom material and prepare them for leadership positions in business. The organisation, in a media release, said that on February 11 at the BMICH Colombo, it is hosting “SPEAK TO LEAD”, an evening developed with insight and experience and which will be the stage to show the talent of a few, hand-picked young adults to speak and showcase their talent.

“It is also a stage for young leaders to speak, interact and mingle with professional elite from various walks of life. Invitees will include directors of leading corporates sector elites, diplomats, academics, heads of non-governmental organizations, sportsmen and media personnel,” the organisation said.

“We often take speaking for granted; but when called upon to speak, go through bouts of anxiety and stage fright. You are not alone in this. In fact 79 per cent of people go through stage fright and speech anxiety. In business, it is important that your employees are able to speak well, when they represent your business at events and meetings. Being ambassadors of your business, they are often judged by customers and counterparts on their ability to articulate and deliver a message concisely, effectively with good articulation and poise. Then, why is it that business leaders rarely focus on developing their employees in speaking and etiquette skills? Be it a new employee or a veteran at his job, be it winning clients or inspiring teams, convincing customers or driving an important point across at a meeting, speech is undoubtedly the strongest tool in your business armory,” the release said.
