Honouring popular singer Sunil Edirisinghe on his 70th b’day
View(s):A felicitation ceremony in honour of popular singer Sunil Edirisinghe will be held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Colombo, at 3 p.m. on December 19 which is also his 70th birthday.
The ceremony presided over by legendary musician Dr. Victor Ratnayaka marks the five-decade musical journey of Sunil. The milestones of this journey will be highlighted by Dr. Ratna Sri Wijesinghe, Prof. Jayantha Amarasighe and Prof. Kolitha Bhanu Dissanayaka through short presentations.
While the event will be compered by Dr. Hasantha Hettiarachchi, several of Sunil’s popular musical scores will also be harmonised by a group of young post-Sunil era singers.
Meanwhile, two Sarasavi Publications on Sunil will be launched at the function – ‘Sunil: Deshaye Aadyamika Swaraya’ compiled by reputed journalist Samudra Wettasinghe and ‘Sunila Siritha’, a sketch of Sunil, the humanist by popular media creator Pushkara Wanniarachchi.
