‘Dada Ima’ wins Debut film award in Kolkata

Dr. Neomal Perera’s maiden film direction “Dada Ima’’ (End of the hunt) won the Best maiden film at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival 2019 recently.

Dr. Perera, an oncologist was the winner of Debut Filmmaker award at the festival. The film continues from the end of the story of ‘Dadayama’ directed by the late filmmaker Vasantha Obeysekera in 1983. The film stars Swarna Mallawarachchi, Jackson Anthony, Mahendra Perera, Akila Dhanuddara and Mario Wettasinghe and it is to be competed at the Golden Fox Film festival, at Kolkata in India.

Ruwan Costa handles the camera, Nadeeka Guruge is the music director, Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne has penned the songs and the concept, screenplay and direction is by Dr. Neomal Perera.

The film is scheuduled to be released in the middle of 2020 on EAP circuit cineams.
