Frangipani: Screening of movie and discussion
View(s):The feature film ‘Frangipani’ (90 min; in Sinhala with English subtitles) will be screened on November 9 (Saturday) at 5 p.m. at the ICES Auditorium, 2, Kynsey Terrace, Colombo 8, followed by a discussion with several cast and crew members including Visakesa Chandrasekaram (Vissa), a human rights lawyer, community law practitioner and independent artist practising in Sri Lanka and Australia.
‘Frangipani’ presents the story of two young men and a woman entangled in a love triangle tabooed in their remote but rapidly changing village in Sri Lanka which is governed by old colonial laws that permit imprisonment of gay and lesbian people.
