Marriott Hotels celebrated the Second Anniversary of its flagship property, Weligama Bay Marriott Resort and Spa, in July this year. A release from the Resort stated that the iconic resort, set by the enchanting Weligama Bay, felicitated its present and former associates whose contributions have been immeasurable to mark two years of success in the industry.

Weligama Bay Mtarriot Resort and Spa offers aesthetically pleasing rooms decorated with earthy tones to create a relaxing feeling. Each unit of accommodation offers uncompromising views of the Indian Ocean and includes a King or Twin bed configuration. A separate bath and shower, 55 inch television, complimentary Wi-Fi and a balcony to enjoy the seascapes that ensure each guest a private sanctuary.

According to the release, the five food and beverage outlets at the resort are now open for the guests to celebrate the anniversary with special promotional activities. The all-day dining restaurant, ‘Weligama Kitchen’, spreads across different zones. Each serves a distinct cuisine, ranging from traditional Sri Lankan specialities, to Tuscan, Cantonese and Indian delicacies and an interactive live kitchen where all the action ensues.

Weligama Kitchen is also known for the popular one-on-one table experience with the resort’s distinguished culinary team led by the Executive Chef Pavan, who is bound by his vision to present guests with cuisines tailored to suit the individual palate.

The taste buds of seafood-lovers are also catered to, as the ‘Big Fish’ restaurant offers gourmet grilled and fresh catch sourced directly from fishmongers in the locale. Tides, the integration of the Lobby and Lobby Lounge with a clearly defined bar transitions from a coffee and pastry focus in the day to alcoholic beverages and snacks in the evening. ‘Mirissa Baking Company’ provides freshly-baked desserts and snacks, accompanied by a selection of fine coffee, fresh juices and speciality drinks. There’s also the pool bar Surf’s Up, that serves refreshing cocktails and simple Asian and Western nibbles.

‘The resort has already been bestowed with awards including the ‘World Luxury Spa Award’, and being recognised by the ‘Great place to Work’ organisation. Marriott is a preferred employer whose associates take pride in their different roles, working towards business goals and personal development opportunities’ said Elton Hurtis, the General Manager of the hotel.
