‘Heal the World’ was an exhibition showcasing the work of 15 talented artists tutored by Saumya Jayasekera. The 126 paintings on display at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery from May 30 to June 1, 2019 were later sold and part of the proceeds then donated to the Children’s Ward of the Cancer Hospital Maharagama.

The beautiful canvases hung up on the wall showed various mediums used such as chalk, oil paints, watercolours, acrylics and charcoal whilst the subject of the paintings ranged from animals, scenery, family portraits, automobiles and abstract designs.

The 13 children who exhibited their paintings are Aadhya Nirmalan  from Ladies’ College, Sanuka Kaluarachchi,  Saden Karunaratne and Kenuka Kandegama  from Royal College, Rahma Imran, Hana Imran and Maryam Hamid from Methodist College,  Lehara
Edirisinghe from Asian International School, Nehan and Dhirren Dodanwala  from Colombo International School,
Insiya and Burhanuddin Huzefa from Burhani Serendib School, Ahmed Imran from Modern Montessori International.

Two adults, Mrs. G. H.P. Chandani Kumari, a member of the academic staff of Agamethi Vidyalaya and Shari Jayawardhana, a past pupil of Ladies’ College also exhibited their paintings.
