Remember those affected by kidney disease this Vesak
View(s):This Vesak, former Editor of the popular Vesak Lipi journal Upali Salgado has appealed to people to remember those suffering from kidney disease and help to alleviate their sufferings. “On this glorious Vesak eve, may you be moved to compassionately offer aid with a donation,” he writes.
Through generous donations made by readers of Vesak Lipi, a fully equipped Kidney ward (Ward 65) with 15 beds costing over Rs 15,000,000 was donated through the Kandy Kidney Protection Society to the General Hospital Kandy. Over the years with more such donations amounting to Rs. 13,500,000, much needed medical equipment was purchased for the ward.
The work of the Kandy Kidney Protection Society is led by Dr. A.M. Beligaswatte, Dr. D. Tilak Abeysekera and Dr. W.G.A. Dissanayake. Mr. Salgado is an Hony Life Member of the KKPS.
All cheque donations marked ‘Account Payee’ could be sent to Upali Salgado, c/o 45, 42nd Lane, Wellawatte, Colombo 6. All donations will be acknowledged by the Kandy Kidney Protection Society.
