‘Weli Pawura’, a film on children, parents relationship

‘Weli Pawura’, Sunil Premaratne’s second direction  is now being screened in theatres around the country.

Produced by Dhammika Atapattu, the film highlights the importance of family bonds and the parent-children relationship and it stars Mahendra Perera, Dilhani Ekanayake, Hemasiri Liyanage, Kumara Thirimadura, Gayathri Dias, Sooriya Dayaruwan, Tharuka Wanniarachchi, Dananji Tharuka, Buwanichapa Diyalagoda, Nethali Nanayakkara, and Kumara Wanduressa in the main cast.

‘Weli Pawura’ narrates around parents who make enormous sacrifices to bring up their children. But once they grow up, lured by money and other worldly pleasures take hasty decisions and act on their own. These actions by the children forced their parents to destitution and spend their sunset years in elders homes.

Director Sunil Premaratne entered cinema with his debut, a children’s film ‘Town Iskole” ( The School in the town) which it also slated to be released soon.

In the technical crew make up is by Tharanga Rukmalwala, art directors are Susantha Dias Abeyratne and Alex Fernando, assistant director is Suneth Rasanga, editor Anura Bandara, cinematography by Sajith Weerapperuma and musical score is written by Darshana Wickrematunga.

Lyrics for the playback are written by Bandara Eheliyagoda, Ravi Siriwardena and Shamila Hussain and they are sung by Sunil Edirisinghe, Shashika Nisansala and Harshana Dissanayake.
