Colombo Fashion Week’s 16th edition will hit the ramp this week and running concurrently at the Colombo Hilton will be a CFW innovation – the Fashion Design Exhibition which celebrates the craft of fashion design in Sri Lanka and the designers behind it. This exhibition is part of ‘The Next 15’ vision and will be on for a week at the Hilton.

Twelve Sri Lankan designers, who have impacted the fashion design industry with their craft starting from the 70s to the present, will exhibit a few of their iconic pieces that moved them creatively and were a milestone in their journey.

“This is our 16th year and as part of our expanded vision statement The Next 15, we must celebrate the works of our designers since the 70s and 80s,” said Ajai Vir Singh, Founder and Managing Director of CFW.

The exhibition will be opened on the morning of February 25. Hi Magazine which also celebrates its 15th anniversary is an important partner of this exhibition.

CFW Fashion Films, in its fifth season, creates a platform for aspiring film directors to showcase their work shot on smartphones. Fashion Films will take the lead this season, with the creative industry of films coming together to collaborate with fashion and creating a platform to promote fashion through films and vice versa. This will lead into a Fashion Film Award, where one director wins the award at the CFW Fashion Films Festival.

The fashion films will be screened on February 25 at the Galle Face Hotel at 6.30 p.m at the Museum. Zeeshan Akram Jabeer, Jake Rajasinghe, Rajika Thilakarathna, Ayshcharya Pinto , Ezra Roberts, Kasu, Noor Jameel , Gayan De Silva, Ravindu/Madu , Ryan /Jonathan  and Yasodhara Kariyawasam are the young directors whose films will be shown.
