Polish filmmaker Jerzy Hoffman’s “After your decrees”, a film highlighting the agony of the holocaust, woven around a young girl who is running for her life, will be screened at 7 pm on March 1 at the Goethe Institute, Colombo.

The film screening is a part of Artur Brauner‘s “Films Against Oblivion”, which are being screened from February 28 to March 15 at the Goethe Hall. When the Germans invade Poland, Ruth is 12 or 13 years old. During the persecution of the Jews, which begins immediately, she manages to escape. Having to fend for herself, she has to fight her way through the country. She finds help, experiences betrayal and suffers from the constant danger of death, from the ever present fear of being discovered and from starvation. Ruth survives.

The screening of films under “Films Against Oblivion” focuses on the victims of the National Socialist regime and are intended to stimulate dialogue on tolerance and humanity. More than 250 feature films were produced by Artur Brauner since the end of World War II, the feature films highlight the inhumane Nazi regime and its systematic persecution of the Jews.

For the great producer personality Brauner, himself a Holocaust survivor, these films form the heart of his work. The film series “Films Against Oblivion” include films like “Hitler Young Salomon” and “Hanussen”.
