Artistic director of the award-winning UK based theatre company ‘Fio’ Abdul Shayek will be at the British Council on Monday, January 21 to talk about why he makes the work that he does.

The discussion will be on Monday, January 21 at 6.30 p.m.

Shayek is a theatre director who is led by ‘play’ and exploration and uses a hybrid of methodologies in his work. He is Artistic Director and CEO of  Fio which he founded. His current projects include an adaptation of the novel ‘Orchard of Lost Souls’- a story about the Somali civil war and Bertolt Brecht’s ‘Fear’ and ‘Misery of the 3rd Reich’.

He is a former national advisor to the Arts Council Wales and a founding member of the Youth Arts Network Cymru. He has been selected as one of three UK cultural leaders in the British Council Australia Intersect Programme.
