It’s the time of year for the most exciting Christmas carnival in town. Back again, is the British School Colombo Christmas Carnival, promising the best fun of the season with the theme “Santa’s Village”.

The event is annually organized by the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and is a popular fixture in the school calendar which not only the school community but even others eagerly look forward to.

Having hosted a successful carnival last year with a huge turnout of adults and children alike, Principal of the British School Colombo Dr. John Scarth says, “The hardest thing to do was getting people to leave the carnival at night as they wanted to stay longer.”

“We are happy to announce that we have already sold out all the vendor tables,” says Pri Perera, President of the PTA.

A range of stalls selling and displaying jewellery, clothes, handbags, stationery items, toys, home baked goodies, Christmas decor, curated gift boxes and paintings will be paired with a mehendi and nail art corner. “We have an amazing food court, games and activities planned for children for the whole day,” assures Dr. Scarth.

This year, BSC Christmas Carnival is introducing a ‘wristband’ for children, priced at Rs.1000. It is a one -time purchase, all day pass for children for all the rides and games of trampoline, bouncer, bubble machine, bungee jump, rodeo bull, tea cup ride, hover carts, bunga run, adventure sele and virtual games for unlimited turns.

The special arts and crafts corner, face painting, photo booth, Santa’s grotto and candy floss are there to give the most wonderful carnival experience to children.

There will be an exciting draw on all entrance tickets. The PTA makes a special request to visitors to join the draw and to win an air ticket to Europe sponsored by Qatar Airways. Other exciting prizes include a whale watching tour and a hotel stay sponsored by Fairway Holdings and many more.

President Pri Perera, Secretary Mimi Angelova, Treasurer Shayani Wijethilake and other committee members of the PTA Munawara Cader Aminuddin, Petra Spencer, Fazna Jawahir, Natasha Colombage, Rehnuma Mamoola, Fazruna Musadiq, Ruwan Silva, Sanika Bhadkamkar and Ramani Mahendran have been putting in a tremendous effort to make this year’s carnival a memorable one and one with a charitable aim.

“We donated 30 specially made wheelchairs for the Cerebral Palsy Lanka Foundation (CPLF) out of the funds raised at the BSC Christmas carnival last year,” notes Dr. Scarth.

HJ International is the Platinum sponsor for the event while John Keells Holdings PLC and Acquest Private Limited join as the Gold sponsors.

The British School Christmas carnival will be held at the British School premises on Saturday, December 8 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets priced at Rs.300 will be available at the school two weeks before the carnival and at the gate on the day of the event. Children below 5 years could walk in free.
