Nuwanidu Fernando’s unbeaten knock of 64 paved the way for Sri Lanka U19 to record a convincing 6-wicket win over host Bangladesh U19 to begin their U19 Asia Cup Cricket tournament campaign on a winning note in the match played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, Bangladesh yesterday.

Nuwanidu whose knock comprised seven boundaries and a six associated in a match winning 90 runs stand for the fourth with Pasindu Sooriyabandara enabling the side in pursuit of 142 runs for victory to reach the target with ease in the 38th over.

Earlier in the day the spin trio Shashika Dulshan, Dunith Wellalage and Kalhara Senaratne shared six wickets helping Sri Lanka U19 to bowl out the Bangladesh U19 for a low score of 141.

Meanwhile India U19 coasted to a massive 171 runs win over Nepal U19, Afghanistan U19 overcame UAE 19 by five wickets and Pakistan U19 crushed Hong Kong U19 by nine wickets in the other three matches that were played yesterday.

Four matches down for decision today are – Sri Lanka U19 vs Hong Kong U19, India U19 vs UAE U19, Pakistan U19 vs Bangladesh U19 and Afghanistan U19 vs Nepal U19.
