Agriculture Minister to present cabinet paper to lift ban on sale of wildboar meat

Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said he will present a Cabinet paper shortly to lift the ban on the sale and transportation of wild boar meat.

The move follows several complaints from farmers about wildboar causing damage to crops. It is reported that more than hundred acres of land in Ampara east has been abandoned due to the wild boar menace.

It’s estimated that agricultural produce worth billions of rupees is lost every season due to the animals invading the farms.
