The Red Mustang, a short film by 27-year-old director Rehan Mudannayake has been selected for the prestigious Montreal World Film Festival, where it will play in the Short Films World Competition.The Red Mustang has been selected along with 13 other short films from over 2000 submissions globally. It was nominated for the Best Short Film prize.

A dark, suspenseful drama that tackles topical themes of sexual harassment, and the abuse and manipulation of power, the film follows a young, desperate graduate who gets more than she bargains for when she is interviewed by a powerful company CEO.

The Red Mustang is the first ever Sri Lankan fiction film to discuss sexual harassment, and addresses many of the inequalities that women encounter in South Asia and the world over. The film stars Francesca Mudannayake and Dulika Jayamanne.

It was screened twice on Tuesday, August 28 at the Cinema Imperial in Montreal.
