The person I love the most is my sister. She was born on January 22, 2012. I am very happy to have a sister. When I saw her first, she was very cute and soft.

I helped my father to fix the cot which was used by me. Then I ran to my toy room and brought my toys and showed them to her. She started to cry when she saw the monster toy and I closed my ears. My mother stopped her crying. We named my little sister Lydia Dayanita.

When my birthday was celebrated on November 13 that same year, my friends who came for the party stood around my little sister and were enjoying her movements.

We celebrated my sister’s first birthday in a grand way. When she was three years she was admitted to the same nursery school that I studied in. When she was five years, she got admission to Grade One in the same school that I am studying in. Now she is in Grade Two. As I don’t have any other sisters or brothers in my family, my love to my sister Lydia will continue forever.

How I won the race
Our school sportsmeet practices had begun and I really wanted to participate. I got selected to run a race but had only one week to prepare for it. The sportsmeet was getting closer by the second and I knew I had to be ready. I practiced at the Saranankara grounds. I also started running on a road near my house. I had races with my friends too. I tried to push myself to the limit and tried my best. I watched videos of Usain Bolt and realised that he didn’t win all the time. This made me nervous.

One week was over and before I knew it, I was standing on the race track with other competitors. My mother and friends were cheering me and this gave me confidence and courage. A second before the starters pistol went off, it felt like time stood still. Then when I heard the gunshot, I took off. However, I wasn’t fast enough. I saw that I was last. Although I was scared, my courage returned when I heard the voices of my mother and friends cheering. Just then I told myself, “I can do it.” Suddenly I was running faster than I ever thought I could.
I was second and all I had to do was beat one more boy and I knew I could do it.
I gave it my all and I won!

I felt so much joy pouring all over me.
All my friends came running towards me. My happiness brought tears of joy to me and my mother. I won a cup and a certificate. I will never forget that moment.

My pet
My pet is a dog. His name is Banty. It is black and white in colour.
It has a long tail.
In the evening it plays with me.
I bathe him once a week. It likes to eat meat. It waves its tail while we play with him. It comes into the house when it smells meat.
I love it very much.

I like to spend life in Kandy

Kandy was the capital of the last king of Sri Lanka. It is home to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, right beside the big lake. I go to the lake and give some bread for the fish. Fish are fighting to eat. I like to see that.

Kandy’s shopping mall has four storeys. Many shops are there. Kandy is surrounded by a mountain range. It is a good place for children. Sri Lanka’s longest river is the Mahaweli River. Mahaweli starts at Samanala mountain. Butterflies are there.

Tourists like to come to Kandy. Kandy has a lot of attractive places. At night you can go to Wales Park. You can see white colour Lord Buddha’s statue, houses, hotels. Wales Park is the best place for tourists.

Kandy town is very small. In other districts we can’t see much mountains. In the month of August, for ten days they have the Perahera. Elephants dance on the road. Some people are fire dancers.
It is very dangerous.
I love Kandy very much. It is my hometown.
