Lovers Quarrel
We had our Richmond – Mahinda cricket match on March 16 and 17.
It was the 113th match. It was held at Galle International Cricket Stadium.
On March 14, we had our school Parade. The children took flags and joined the Parade. It was fun.
I went to see the match with my father. There were decorated huts.
The Richmond cricketers were brilliant at playing.
Cheers to Richmond!

Water
Water is a natural resource. Without water, we cannot live. Water fills the seas, rivers and lakes. It also exists as snow and ice on the mountains.
The great King Parakramabahu said “not a single drop of water should reach the sea without man making some use of it.” Animals and plants too need water to live. We use water for drinking, cooking, washing clothes and cultivation.
People pollute the water in many ways. We must stop polluting water because water is our life.

My pet
One day, some birds were trying to chase a parrot and it accidently fell in our garden courtyard. My mother picked it up and found that it was wounded. My mom nursed her. From that day, it would not leave us and go anywhere, so it became my favourite pet.
I named it Patlu. It is green in colour. It has a blood red curved beak and strong legs. We feed it grains and fruits. Mostly it lives on my shoulder or swings in her cage. It gradually gained our love and is now one among the family members.
I love my Patlu very much.

My best birthday party
I celebrated my sixth birthday. I invited all my friends to my birthday party. My parents had invited some of our relatives too.
In the morning we did a pooja at home and in the afternoon the guests began to arrive.
I put on my birthday dress which was specially sewn for me. The house was decorated beautifully by my sister and my mother.
In the evening I cut my birthday cake.

The cake was very beautiful with colourful icing. My friends and family members sang the birthday song.
The guests were served sweets and drinks. Everybody was in a joyful mood and enjoyed a lot.
We then played games like ‘musical chairs’ and ‘treasure hunt’. The winners were given prizes. Finally the party came to an end. We were all tried but happy.
I helped my mother to clean up the mess we made. It was the best birthday party!

My school library
My school has a very big library. It is on the ground floor of the school building. It has hundreds of books.
It has books on all subjects. It also has
a number of storybooks and magazines.
Inside the library, there are rows of tables and chairs. Big cabinets are kept all around the library. Books are alphabetically arranged in these cabinets. Students of all classes visit the library as per schedule. We all have library cards which we carry to school every day. We can borrow one book at
a time from the school library.
Our librarian is a very nice lady.
She has a lot of knowledge about books. She makes sure that all the books are returned to the library on time. She maintains the library very well. Many a time she helps us to locate and select books.
I love to visit my school library as this is one place where I can sit and study peacefully without any disturbance.
