One aspect of the Dialog 4G-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy/Schoolgirl Cricketer of the Year 2018 competition came to an end with the completion of the 26th week of coupons, in the week ended. As mentioned last week, Coupon No.26 was published in the Sunday Times of March 25, with votes accepted till 12 noon March 29. And, as outlined during the past couple of weeks, the final results will be made public next Sunday (April 8).

This wait will be until Dialog Axiata’s online voting portal — www.dialog.lk/cricket — closes its voting facility, open for the past 6 months, at 12 noon on Thursday, April 5. These dates and deadlines were mentioned from the inception of the Dialog 4G-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy/Schoolgirl Cricketer of the Year 2018 in October 1, 2017, and throughout the weeks up to date.

The Dialog 4G-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy/Schoolgirl Cricketer of the Year 2018 could be rated a success with schoolboy and schoolgirl cricketers getting involved this year with great interest. Besides the two customary categories — the All-Island and Emerging Schools — the newly introduced Girls’ Category was a success.

Coupons were continuously published for 26 weeks in the Sunday Times, English dailies Daily Mirror, Daily FT, Sinhala dailies Lankadeepa and Ada. In addition, Dialog Axiata’s Online Voting Portal — www.dialog.lk/cricket — played an important and huge role, getting along with the ever building and impact-making social media.

When the officials results were made public last weekend, S. Thomas’ College’s Dellon Peiris led the All-Island Schools category, Denuwan Perera of Carey College led the Emerging Schools category and Harshitha Samarawickrama of Anula Vidyalaya led the Girls’ School category. With readers and ardent followers getting time until 12 noon Thursday, April 5, to cast their vote online, the Sunday of April 8 would be an anticipation-filled day to all those who are in the competition. The results of the final count (Week 26) will be revealed with the inclusion of Online Votes next Sunday, April 8.
