Holiday trip to Anuradhapura

I loved to visit Anuradhapura because it is an ancient place.
I went with my aunt, uncle, sister,
my grandmother and grandfather.
I was very excited to go on the trip in the train.

We went to Anuradhapura and went to our hotel to have lunch. Then we went to see Isurumuniya, Ruwanveli Seya, Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya, Abhayagiriya, Thuparamaya and many more. We went to rest near the Abhaya River. Later we went to see the moonstone, guardstone and Lankaramaya. Then as it was dark we went back to our hotel and we rested.
The next day we went to Thanthirimale. It is a nice place.

It has a small forest. We went into it. It was very scary but enjoyable.
Then we also went to Mihintale.
It is a rock. Mihindu Maharahathan vahanse came to this rock. This was made a palace of King Dewanampiyatissa. It’s very nice. The next day we went to Ritigala.

It is a very high mountain. We went up. There is a forest but it is a very beautiful place.
The last day we came back to Colombo to our home sweet home.
I enjoyed this trip very much.

If I was the ruler of the country
If I was the ruler of the country
(Sri Lanka), I would definitely find a way to recycle garbage so that people can live without any tension about garbage landslides. I would also develop the textile industries and the
fishing industries.
I will also help the poor people by providing them with houses and money. I will construct hospitals, schools and universities. I will build schools for the children who can complete their education and to achieve their goals in the future. I would also reduce the stress of earning money. I will encourage people to
conduct health education seminars for the future generation to protect themselves.
I will also improve trade relations with other
countries.
I will protect my people and try my best to be a good ruler.

For the love of trees
I was one amongst the large group of lovers of modern art who attended ‘For The Love of Trees’ an exhibition of line drawings and painting organised and presented by a group of contemporary art enthusiasts held recently at the Lionel Wendt Memorial Art Gallery, Colombo.

Inspired by the love of the jungle and the fascination with trees, a group comprising of Charmaine, Minha, Senerath and Kumarasiri captured the beauty of the ever changing environment through different styles on canvas.

The paintings exhibited consisted mainly of a different concept and nature. Most of them outlined the various shapes, styles and beauty of the many varieties of natural hues and shades of the fully grown foliage that had spread their branches far and wide. The endeavours of the artists to give these branches and twigs an artistic twist is certainly laudable and praiseworthy.

Some of the exhibits were quite impressive, specially the works on ink and oil on canvas was indeed a rare treat for all students and lovers of modern art. Their efforts will certainly serve as a glowing example for our future generation of up and coming art enthusiasts to follow.

The way I like to learn in my classroom
Education is a secondary need of humans. Schools are there to fulfill this need. In schools they provide us knowledge, attitude and skills to mould our characters so to have a proper personality.

Various children like to learn in various ways. Among them I’m also a student who likes to learn in my way. The way I like to learn in my classroom is to have good education with good, kind and knowledgeable teachers as well as students. I expect clean surroundings without rubbish and other useless stuff. The advantage of learning in my way in the classroom is to gain a big knowledge. If there is a calm, pleasant and activity based learning environment, then we can have an inclination towards education.

I don’t like to learn under pressure. Sometimes the classroom is compact with desks and chairs. It harms our mental satisfaction and thinking power.
However, I’m fond of taking up challenges when learning. There are memorable teachers who can understand us and our needs in my life. I offer them my gratitude. Our school provides us many co-curricular activities also. According to my point of view, these help us to learn in stress-free environment. I love my Alma Mater for providing me free education and wish her to be the best in the world.

Ruwanweli Maha Stupa
Ruwanweli Maha Stupa was built by King Dutugemunu. Two most important places for worship in Anuradhapura are Sri Maha Bodhi and Ruwanweliseya. King Dutugemunu built this during the reign of 191 – 137 BC. But he could not complete it because he fell sick. He ordered his brother Tissa to complete it. Tissa knew that it was Dutugemunu’s last movement and he covered it with a white cloth and showed to King Dutugemunu. King Dutugemunu built Lovamahapaya. He is my favourite king.

Time is important
Time is more than money as money can be earned again. However, once spent time can never be earned. Time is priceless to everyone; time is free to all, however no one can buy it or sell it.

Try to respect time. Time is strong and more powerful than anything in this world. Time runs continuously without stoppage, it never gets tired. It is a wonderful thing which has no beginning and ending. It only runs in a forward direction. Most of the people value money more than time. Use time in a proper manner.

Friendship
Everyone needs a friend. Friendship is one of the noblest figure for human lives.
It is very difficult to find a true friend nowadays.
It is said, “ A friend in need is a friend indeed.” It is very easy to make friends but it is difficult to maintain a friendship. A true friend is worth more than gold. We must try to find out a friend with their qualities and character before making friends. True friends are always with you. They never trouble you.
If you can have one true friend, it can be a gift for your life.
