An unforgettable trip
My father said that if my sister and I get good marks, he will take us to Qatar. So we worked very hard and got high marks. At last the day came. Finally we reached Doha. Our cousins were waiting to pick us. It was a six hour flight. It was very cold outside as it was the winter season.

After that we reached our cousins home. Every day my uncle and aunt took us out. We visited two beaches, the Al-Ghariya beach and the Dhukhan beach. We had a lot of fun. We also went on a buggy ride. We went to the state mosque which is the largest mosque in Doha. It was magnificent. My uncle took us to Villagio. It is a big mall where there are shopping areas, play areas, boat riding and ice-skating. We had a lot of fun and had dinner in Apple-Bees. Mall of Qatar is the largest mall in Qatar. There is a place called Kidz Mondo too where we can experience different ambitions. That was a wonderful experience.

My dad’s cousin sister took us to two museums. The Al-Faizal museum had a lot of ancient things. It was very beautiful. We also went to the MIA Museum of Islamic Art where there were many things including the smallest Quran. While she was driving us around my aunt showed us the Emiri Dhivani where the king hosts all the important events.

The most interesting part of my tour was the dune bashing. We went on high steep sand in the desert, sliding down quickly. It was adventurous. It was an unforgettable trip full of memories and I hope can visit Doha again next time.

Let us protect Mother Earth
The only planet where life can exist, is the third planet in the solar system, ‘Earth’. The Earth is spherical and has factors necessary for the existence of organisms.
Earth can be divided unto spheres, the atmosphere, lithosphere and hydrosphere. Due to human activities, it has become a polluted plant. People throw garbage, send industrial waste into waterways, and make the water impure. The land gets polluted when stuff like polythene is thrown and does not decompose. The atmosphere is polluted due to the release of harmful gases from factories and engines of vehicles which even damage the Ozone layer.

To minimise pollution of the Earth we must use eco-friendly chemicals which will not damage or pollute. Decomposing waste from plants which can be made into manure will reduce the use of artificial fertilizers. Recycling things like paper and polythene can reduce waste that is thrown. Reforestation helps to provide more fresh oxygen and rain for the existence of life. Using alternative energy sources can reduce the amount of heat and harmful gases being added into the atmosphere. When we do these things we can protect Mother Earth and make it a clean and beautiful planet.

If all the people on Earth think of this matter seriously, we could protect the Earth from pollution and save it
for the future generation. Then Earth will be a wonderful place to live.
All creatures on Earth can live a happy and healthy life.

My favourite cartoon character
My favourite cartoon character is Sofia. She is very beautiful. She has an amulet that is magical. I wish I could also have an amulet like that. Sofia can change into a mermaid and be small or big because of her amulet. Sofia has a pet rabbit. Its name is Clover.

Sofia is a princess. Her castle is beautiful. Sofia is going on Disney Junior. Sofia has a sister and brother. Sofia was a villager. I don’t know why the royal family took her to their family. I like Sofia’s songs and voice. She’s a pretty girl. Sofia hasn’t told anyone about her amulet, even her family. Sofia can talk to animals and she has told her secrets to animals.

That amulet was another princess’s. It chose Sofia to get the amulet. The princess who had it is trapped inside the amulet. Somehow, Sofia frees her. That’s the best cartoon I watched. It’s a very lovely cartoon and I like it very much.

My hometown
My hometown is Wennappuwa. Wennappuwa is a beautiful village. So many tourists come from distant countries to see the beauty in Wennappuwa. Wennappuwa is a developing village, it’s actually a town in present days.

My hometown is an ancient village according to the literary sources. In the past, Wennappuwa was called as Wennarpura because Wennarpura was ruled by a king named Wennar. Later, it changed to Wennappuwa. The Wennappuwa Wewa was built by King Parakramabahu the Great.
There are many beautiful places in my hometown such as golden beaches and rivers, beach-side hotels and many more. The Gin Oya river is also flowing across Wennappuwa.

I think there is everything in my village such as schools, banks, hospitals, a public library,
a post office, a railway station etc.
Finally I say, all the people who live in my hometown should be together and rescue our hometown without being destroyed.

Respecting elders

Our parents, teachers and elders are the people we should always respect. Respecting them is a good habit that we should cultivate from our childhood.
Our religion and our culture have always taught and encouraged respect towards our parents, teachers and elders.
So we must always listen and obey them, not talking back to them. We as children must also respect and take good care of them.

Life
From an overseas reader
It breaks you apart
And it holds you all together
It teaches us so much
Until you find another.

Then when you slowly tread
Your bond will be as strong
As hearts that cannot break
Throughout your whole life long.

And when you slowly end
Just remember all the things
The things that came wayback
A loving life did send.

A rainy day
It was rainy last week. Nobody was at home. I was bored being home. So I was watching television.
Suddenly, the electricity was cut. I was too scared. I lighted
a candle and kept it on my table.
Suddenly a knock came on the door. I thought it my father and mother. So I ran to the door.
I opened the door. It was a man. He asked me for an umbrella.
I gave him an umbrella. Again
I went to my room. Again a knock came on the door. I ran to the door. At last they came and the power also came.
