Renault Kwid, second highest selling small car in Sri Lanka

Renault Kwid, the main competitor for Maruti ALTO, has become the second highest selling small car in Sri Lanka, after just over a year from its launch in June last year, a top official of the Groupe Renault, Indian Subcontinent said in Colombo recently.

“Already we are the number two player and the number one European car manufacturer in the island,” Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Groupe Renault, Indian Subcontinent Operations said adding that over 6000 Renault Kwids are running on Sri Lankan roads.

The partnership between Groupe Renault, India and Associated Motorways (AMW), Sri Lanka is now entering into Renault’s next phase of growth in the island, as they look to significantly increase their presence across the country, as well as to aggressively expand their island-wide dealership footprint, he disclosed.

Mr. Sawhney told a large gathering at a ceremony organised rcently in connection with the signing of cricketing superstar, Kumar Sangakkara as the brand ambassador of Renault in Sri Lanka, that Renault has recently expanded its network to six showrooms and 21 service centres countrywide.

Mr. Sangakkara, sharing his views said, “Renault is an iconic and inspirational brand the world over and I’m happy to be associated with a brand that is young, vibrant and has quickly established itself in Sri Lanka as a new addition to our roads.”

Samantha Rajapaksa, Managing Director, AMW, said the Kwid has become a buyer’s favourite in Sri Lanka and its sales have increased to a significant level within a short period of over one year.

Renault launched the ‘Kwid Live for More’ edition equipped with unique and urbane elements, which further enhances the lifestyle quotient of the Renault Kwid.

On the feature front, it comes with a segment-first 7-inch touch screen with Bluetooth technology along with other add-on.
