Walt Disney
Walt Disney was an American entrepreneur, animator, voice actor and film producer. He pioneered the fields of animation and cartoon films.
Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago. From his childhood he was interested in drawing. Instead of doing work he doodled pictures of animals and nature. When he was sixteen he dropped out of schoolto join the army but he was rejected and joined the Red Cross.Later Walt set up the Disney brothers’ studio with his brother. Walt’s creation, Mickey Mouse was a great success. He produced ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’, ‘Pinocchio’, ‘Fantasia’, ‘Bambi’ and many more films.

‘Flowers and Trees’ was the first cartoon to win an Oscar. As a film producer, Walt Disney holds the record for having won 22 Oscars with two Golden Globe Special Awards and an Emmy Award.

Disneyland was another great success where children and parents could take rides, explore and meet the familiar characters in a clean safe environment. Walt was a chain smoker. In 1966, he developed lung cancer and died at the age of 65.

A visit to a hospital
Recently, my mother and I went to the Matara Base Hospital. I saw lots of patients in wards and some standing in a queue to get medicine. We went there to see our neighbour who had met with an accident.
When I was there, I saw doctors examining patients very carefully. Nurses and attendants looked after the patients very well. They were given medicine at the correct time. The hospital premises were clean and tidy. Labourers cleaned the surroundings very well. Some patients were waiting for medicine in the outdoor dispensary. There were patients who had come from remote areas to get medicine because it was a well-equipped hospital in the Matara district.
I think hospitals provide a great service for the benefit of all the patients.

The bicycle
The bicycle is a very useful poor man’s vehicle. This is the only means that has access to almost all corners. It is made of steel. It has two wheels. It has a seat and a handle. Two pedals and a bell are also part of it. My bicycle has a carrier too.

I go to school daily by bicycle. It is very useful for short distances. Many of my school friends also come to school on their bicycles. In short we call it ‘bike’. Every day in the morning I clean and oil it. Its regular care makes it move smoothly and fast. It should be protected from water otherwise rust will settle on it. This poor man’s vehicle can carry two people easily. One can sit on the carrier or on the rod ahead of the seat and the other can sit on the seat. Its pedals are
conveniently located near the feet of the driver. It moves at the speed depending on the force it is pedalled with.
The environment is slowly being destroyed by all of the pollution emitted by vehicles, many which don’t have to be used. Bicycles are much lighter and allow roads to last much longer and they do not pollute the environment.

Cycling is also a good source of exercise especially for the lungs, heart and bone joints of the body. There are various cycling sports at national and international level. My bicycle is one of my most prized possessions. My daddy presented it to me on my eighth birthday. It helps me cover distances in a short time. I love it immensely.

If I could travel back in time
If I could travel back in time, it will be a great opportunity for me, as I can change many things and spend more time on something I really love.
Firstly, I will go back to December 23, 2014. I will try to save my dog Timmy as he died two days later, on Christmas Day, and I am really going to point out his sickness and rescue him.
Next, I am going to the time where Lord Buddha became the Buddha, as I have many questions to ask from Lord Buddha if he really lived.

Next, of course I will go back to my old class, 7J, and spend time with them again. I will also go back in time, so that I can go on every trip we went all over again. There are many more things that I would love to do, but these are just the prominent ones.
As you can see, I would love to go back in time. Unfortunately, there is no way. But I hope that in the future, someone will find a way to go back in time, so I can fulfill my wishes.

Destruction of trees
Trees, trees, trees,
They gave me fees
I plucked fruits
And I took woods.

They gave me shade
Because I watered them and made
I made furniture
And sold them to my future.

But what has happened now
I don’t know how
The trees are vanished
Now my chest got crashed.

People have cut them down
And made them houses
Now my trees are gone
So I don’t get what I want.

Why shouldn’t people stay under tamarind trees at night
Many trees take oxygen and release a lot of carbon dioxide at night. Tamarind is a good example of it. People who stay under the tamarind tree feel very uncomfortable to breathe, because carbondioxide is a very heavy gas. It’s hard for us to inhale and exhale. We turn bluish. We will get dizzy and we will faint. Please do not keep such plants near window sills.
You release carbondioxide and the plant does too.
Our forefathers scared many people saying some ghost stories not to stay under big trees.
Please do not stay under tamarind trees at night.

Holidays are essential
A holiday is a time period where people don’t have school or work. It is the time to make our busy minds relaxed. It also gives time to get together with our family members and have fun. If we don’t have holidays, what will life be?
As human beings we must have holidays to enjoy and relax. However, these holidays can harm people on one side. When we have too many holidays people become lazy and weak. So we should be careful to have our holidays for a limited period of time.
