COPA to present report on 831 state institutions in Parliament tomorrow

The Committee on Public Accounts (COPA)’s comprehensive report on 831 government institutions will be presented in Parliament tomorrow, Committee Chairman MP Lasantha Alagiyawanna said. The report will contain accounts of 831 institutions for 2015, Mr. Alagiyawanna told reporters at a media briefing yesterday.

Among the institutions COPA examined were 50 ministries, 91 departments, 25 district secretariats, 45 provincial ministries, 23 municipal councils, 41 urban councils and 271 pradeshiya sabhas.
He said the report for 2016 will be presented to the House before the end of the year. Meanwhile Government institutions which have kept their accounts in order will be felicitated at a function tomorrow under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.
