50 more officers for Bribery Commission to combat bribery and corruption

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABC) intends to recruit 50 officers to launch a programme to prevent Bribery and Corruption.
CIABC Director General Sarath Jayamanna P.C. said the objective was to create awareness on prevention of Bribery and Corruption within society. He said the Govt has agreed to implement the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), to which Sri Lanka is a signatory.

Meanwhile, President’s Secretary Austin Fernando will participate in the UNCAC sessions commencing in Geneva tomorrow, where he will explain steps taken to minimise Bribery and Corruption in the country. Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya P.C., Mr Jayamanna, Foreign Affairs Ministry Additional Secretary A.I.A. Azin and Presidential Task Force Chairman for the recovery of illegally acquired State assets, J.C. Weliamuna P.C. and CIABC Director Investigations, SSP Priyantha Chandrasiri will also take part in the sessions.
