HFC Bambalapitiya outplay GSC Kotahena at cager tourney

Holy Family Convent (HFC) Bambalapitiya outplayed Good Shepherd Convent (GSC) Kotahena by 47-35 at basketball to clinch the All-Island National Schools Under-20 Championship with an unblemished record. The final was played at the Royal College Indoor Sports Complex in Colombo, where HFC kept their momentum intact to record a deserving win.

HFC nearly had their shackles challenged by GSC, who kept on throwing force in the first two quarters. However at halftime HFC managed to take the lead by 27-21 and move on from there to finish off with a 12-point lead at fulltime.

Dilumi Goonawardena of the winning team, who scored a total of 17 points in the final, was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament. Sandrene David contributed with 10 points to HFC’s deserving win.
